The floor inside an observatory dome is a circle of area 1384.74 m². Find the diameter of the floor. (Take π = 3.14.)

  1. area = π × r × r
  2. 3.14 × r × r = 1384.74
  3. r × r = 1384.74 ÷ 3.14 = 441
  4. r = 21
  5. diameter = 2 × 21 = 42

The answer is 42 m.

Halve the diameter before finding the area of the badge.

A round sewing badge has a diameter of 7 cm. Find the area of the badge. (Take π = 3.14.)
