  1. Total number of units = 2 + 3 = 5
  2. 5 units = 45
  3. 1 unit = 45 ÷ 5 = 9
  4. 3 units = 3 × 9 = 27 beads
  5. 2 units = 2 × 9 = 18 beads

Samuel gets 27 beads.

Share the remaining buns

Find what remains before sharing it in the given ratio.

A bakery made 180 buns in the morning and sold 1/3 of them before noon. The buns that were left were shared between Tray A and Tray B in the ratio 2 : 3. How many buns were on Tray B?

Show the step-by-step solution
  1. buns sold = 1/3 × 180 = 60
  2. buns left = 180 - 60 = 120
  3. the ratio shares the buns that are left, so the 120 fills every unit
  4. 2 + 3 = 5 units
  5. 5 units = 120
  6. 1 unit = 120 ÷ 5 = 24
  7. 3 units = 3 × 24 = 72 buns
