Find the value removed from a record

Work out which totals you need before choosing a calculation.

A fitness class averaged 26 attendees over its first 4 weeks. One week's figure was then struck off the record because the class had been merged with another that week, and the average of the remaining 3 weeks became 28. How many attendees were there in the week that was struck off?

total for 3 weeks = 28 × 3 = 84
struck-off week = 104 - 84 = 20 attendees
