Express seven twenty-fifths as a decimal. Try it first. Pause if you like. The box holds the numerator of an equivalent fraction. How can we change twenty-five into one hundred? Twenty-five times four is one hundred. We will express the fraction in hundredths. Multiply the numerator by four too. Changing both by the same multiplier keeps the fraction equal. Seven times four is twenty-eight. So the equivalent fraction is twenty-eight hundredths. Seven twenty-fifths equals twenty-eight hundredths, which is zero point two eight. The denominator is one hundred, so read the numerator as hundredths. Twenty-eight hundredths is zero point two eight.

Express zero point zero six as a fraction in its simplest form. Try it first. Pause if you like. Look at the place of the six. What kind of parts does zero point zero six name? Zero point zero six is six hundredths. Write six over one hundred. There are zero tenths. The six is in the hundredths place, so the denominator is one hundred. Six and one hundred are both divisible by two. Divide the numerator and denominator by two. Six divided by two is three. One hundred divided by two is fifty. Zero point zero six equals six hundredths, which simplifies to three fiftieths. Three and fifty have no common factor greater than one. Three fiftieths is in its simplest form. Write the decimal as a fraction with denominator ten, one hundred or one thousand. Then simplify the fraction by dividing both terms by the same number.
