Rectangles and Squares
Use the properties of rectangles and squares to identify their sides and angles, then draw these figures.
Your child learns what makes a four-sided figure a rectangle: four right angles, with opposite sides equal and parallel. A square has all of this and four equal sides. Your child uses these facts to find a missing side or an angle at a corner, to complete a rectangle on a grid, and to draw one accurately from its measurements. Read the study guide →
About this chapter
These Primary 4 rectangles and squares questions link shape properties to accurate drawings. Your child uses equal sides, parallel sides and right angles to identify figures and explain missing measurements. Separate subtopics cover drawing on a square grid and drawing with a ruler and set square. The P4 syllabus excludes diagonal properties from this chapter's required outcomes.
Practise by question type: rectangle and square properties, drawing on a square grid, drawing rectangles and squares and p4 rectangles and squares revision.
