Area and Perimeter
Find the area of a figure in square units and the perimeter of rectilinear figures, rectangles and squares.
Your child learns that area is the surface a figure covers, counted in square units such as cm² and m², and that perimeter is the distance all the way round. Your child counts squares, adds every side of a rectilinear figure, uses length × breadth, works backwards to a missing side, and splits a figure into rectangles to find its area. About this chapter
These Primary 3 area and perimeter questions start with counting square units and tracing the edge of a figure, then move to the area of a rectangle or square, finding a missing side, and figures built from rectangles. Each subtopic has a short lesson film and a worked example, and the chapter ends with mixed practice.
Practise by question type: area by counting squares, perimeter of rectilinear figures, area of rectangle and square questions, missing side from area or perimeter, area of l-shaped figures, identical rectangles questions and p3 area and perimeter mixed practice questions.
