Free P6 Ratio Practice: Constant Difference

When the same amount is added to both quantities, or removed from both, their difference stays the same. This free pack gives your child six opportunities to recognise and use that idea.

Is this the right pack for your child?

Choose it if your child is learning Primary 6 before-and-after ratio questions. The contexts include ages, crates, clubs, baskets, tins and boxes. The questions are original Mathweave questions, not reproduced school papers.

The key is the equal change, not simply the fact that a ratio changes. Moving an amount from one quantity to the other calls for a different idea. If you are unsure which lesson fits, choose a starting point here.

Use it in two short sessions, if that suits

  1. Begin with questions 1 to 3. Let your child set out the working on paper.
  2. Check the answer pages together. Ask about a step that is unclear, rather than checking only the final number.
  3. Return to questions 4 to 6 when ready. The split is optional, not a timed test or a recommended learning dose.

For printing, use A4 at 100% scale. The question pages are separate from the answer pages, so your child can attempt the questions before looking at the solutions.
